Catie Carney

MA, PLMHP Predoctoral Intern

My name is Catie Carney (she/her) and I am honored to be a part of the Morningstar Counseling team as a doctoral intern. I am currently completing the final year of my PhD program in School Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I also received my MA in Educational Psychology and my BA in Psychology. Throughout my training, I have had the privilege of working with youth and families across a variety of school and clinical settings. I utilize a trauma-informed approach that draws from a range of modalities (CBT, ACT, MI, Solution-Focused, Narrative) to help empower clients and families to share their stories; to embrace their strengths, identities, and traditions; and to create changes that are meaningful for them. Regardless of modality, my approach to therapy is grounded in my personal values of humility, genuineness, creativity, kindness, and the importance of a strong relationship founded in trust, empathy, and respect. In my free time, I enjoy art, photography, music, connecting with family, reading, spending time in nature, playing board games, and enjoying the company of my partner and four fur babies (two dogs and two cats). I look forward to meeting you and to continuing my personal and professional journey with Morningstar!
